My "thoroughness" has saved the Company money. When (name), fitcheck mechanic, had me look into a 737NG T/R damaged erosion strip tag (NCR number) to correct a part number on the tag that he thought was wrong, I looked at the "damage" and something did not look right. Upon closer inspection the "damage" was just finch (marker overcoat) that was on the erosion strip. It was easily removed with a seal scraper, and I wrote a revision to cancel the tag that formerly was dispositioned to remove and replace the erosion strip. Both the originating inspector and the MRB Coordinator in Renton that validated the tag missed this, and so did the engineer that dispositioned the tag.
